countermaps: rediscovering Ottawa through sounds and emotions
author: urban imaginaries ottawa
these pieces bring together some of the works done by the students of the Master’s course "Design Anthropology", held in the Winter term of 2022 by the School of Industrial Design at Carleton University. Students participated in the activities of the ‘Urban Imaginaries Ottawa’ project and engaged with a counter-mapping process of the urban context drawing from its walks (Soundwalk, on March 7; and Urban Walk, on March 27). After the walks, students designed and held a counter-mapping workshop and organized the results in counter-maps.
the maps that you see here are accounts that challenge official representations of the city.
